DocumentDoctor is a must have XTension to QuarkXPress that will automate the process of scanning through documents looking for common errors, such as accidentally leaving the printing status of pictures and boxes on Suppress Printout, overflowed text boxes, trapping values that are out of range, etc. You configure DocumentDoctor with what you want it to look for and send it on its way. DocumentDoctor can scan four different sets of criteria: Boxes, Text, Pictures, and Trapping. The examination process is similar to a Find/Change proceduure. DocumentDoctor takes you to the element(s) in question and displays a dialog describing why a problem exists. You then have the option of manually correcting the problem, skipping the element or having the XTension correct the problem within your parameters.
There are dozens of options available for Text and Picture box examination. These include the ability to search for element colours that match the background of a box and would be invisible on output, picture angles that are not multiples of 90 degrees, and x and y coordinates for graphic placement in Picture Boxes that would indicate disproportionate scaling. Additionally, minimum and maximum tolerannces for attributes such as kerning, tracking, leading, and horizontal and vertical scaling of pictures AND text can be specified. Multiple sets of DocumentDoctor Preferences may be saved for working on different types of documents. DocumentDoctor also produces customizable reports that detail all symptoms found and how they were corrected during an examination.
